Abstract

Schinus terenbinthifolius Raddi é uma espécie brasileira com destaque na medicina popular. Suacasca, folhas e frutos, são muito utilizados no tratamento de diversas enfermidades como por exemplo gastrite, úlcera, feridas, inflamação e dores, entre outros usos. Nesse sentido buscando obter informações sobre o emprego de tecnologia voltada para esta espécie, foi realizada uma prospecção em quatro bancos de dados de patentes: European Patent Office (Espacenet), World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) e Instituto Nacional de Propriedade Industrial (INPI) do Brasil, utilizando a palavras-chave Schinus terenbinthifoliuscruzada com anti-inflamatório ou inflamação. A pesquisa demonstrou que há apenas dois registros de patentes que trata do extrato da Schinusterenbinthifolius como agente anti-inflamatório. As demais patentes encontradas não se tratava da espécie foco deste estudo, uma vez que a S. terenbinthifolius possuem outras atividades, como por exemplo a fungicida e a antitumoral. Diante disso, há muito que se estudar sobre esta espécie, dado seu potencial farmacêutico pouco explorado.
