Abstract


From the last decade, industrial, commercial, and domestic refrigeration has undergone several conceptual and structural changes. Environmental issues related to ozone depletion and global warming, together with the growing concern about the economy and the rational use of energy, have been promoting the development of new systems and the use of new refrigerants. (Abrava, 2018). Most of the refrigeration systems available on the market use conventional control in order to eliminate or minimize the effects of variable loads and other disturbances in the system, always maintaining energy consumption at its maximum level. (Martinelli, 2008)

This work is committed to measuring the gains with the implementation of an automation system in refrigeration assets (chillers, towers and pumps) of an air conditioning system at the International Airport of Rio de Janeiro whose purpose is to obtain a reduction in the consumption of energy and significant cost savings in the process.
