Abstract


A sepse é um processo dinâmico, que rapidamente evolui para estágios graves. Com isso, tecnologias de diagnóstico rápido, como o Matrix Associated Laser Desorption-Ionization – Time of Flight (MALDI-TOF) têm o potencial de melhorar a condução do tratamento, trazendo melhora no prognóstico do paciente. Objetivo. Esse trabalho teve como objetivo verificar a utilidade do MALDI-TOF como ferramenta diagnóstica nos protocolos de sepse em comparação com a cultura. Método. Foi realizada uma revisão integrativa nas bases de dados: SciELO, BVS, Web of Science, PUBMED e Google Acadêmico. Resultados. Observou-se na literatura encontrada que a implementação do MALDI-TOF no protocolo de sepse reduz o tempo para diagnóstico etiológico, o tempo até a terapia efetiva, o tempo de permanência em UTI e diminui os custos hospitalares. Além disso, ele é utilizado para diagnósticos de microorganismos raros. Conclusão. A inclusão do MALDI-TOF tem potencial para trazer benefícios na condução do paciente com sepse.
