Terapia fotodinâmica para o tratamento das lesões orais: revisão de literatura / Photodynamic therapy for the treatment of oral lesions: literature review

Abstract


Introdução: A terapia fotodinâmica (PDT, do inglês photodynamic therapy) é um método que utiliza um agente fotossensibilizador ativado por uma fonte de luz, através de um comprimento de onda específico onde essa reação provoca a liberação de oxigênio reativo capazes de danificar a parede celular e matar certos tipos de células. Objetivo: realizar uma revisão integrativa da literatura sobre o uso da laserterapia de baixa intensidade relacionada à terapia fotodinâmica no tratamento das lesões bucais e a importância desta temática na odontologia como uma opção terapêutica não invasiva. Materiais e Métodos: Foi realizado uma revisão de literatura usando os meios de pesquisa com o Pubmed, SciELO, Lilacs e Google Acadêmico, com os termos: “PDT na odontologia, terapia fotodinâmica, laserterapia de baixa intensidade, lesões orais, laser azul de metileno, laser em odontologia” e suas respectivas traduções para língua inglesa. Os critérios de inclusão foram artigos publicados nas línguas inglesa e portuguesa a partir do ano de 2010 e que abordassem a temática proposta. Os critérios de exclusão foram artigos que não fossem publicados em português ou inglês, trabalhos de conclusão de curso, monografias, dissertações, teses e publicações que não contivessem o texto completo disponível. Resultados: analisou-se 53 artigos que, atenderam aos critérios previamente estabelecidos. A síntese dos dados extraídos foi apresentada de forma descritiva, reunindo-a ao conhecimento produzido sobre o tema investigado nesta revisão. Concluiu-se que a PDT apresenta indícios positivos no processo de cicatrização e reparo tecidual, e o progressivo uso na odontologia, traz consigo uma tendência para novas pesquisas, com esperança de agentes fototerapêuticos mais seletivos.
