Abstract


O antimônio (Sb) e o Selênio (Se) são elementos que fazem parte da composição de algumas formulações farmacêuticas, das quais podem ser fontes de contaminação em águas naturais. Esses elementos têm recebido notoriedade na classe de contaminantes emergentes, podendo desencadear efeitos deletérios aos organismos expostos. Com o intuito de mitigação dessa problemática, estudos voltados para o desenvolvimento de procedimentos sustentáveis para o tratamento de águas contaminadas devem ser incentivados. No presente trabalho, a farinha da casca de banana sem qualquer modificação (in natura, FBN) e modificada com tiosemicarbazida (FBM)foram investigadas como adsorventes para a remoção a níveis traço de Sb(III) e Se(IV) em diferentes matrizes aquosas. Nas condições otimizadas foi possível alcançar remoção de até 78% para Sb(III) e 83% para Se(IV) empregando FBM. O mecanismo de adsorção foi baseado em cinéticas de difusão intra-partícula para Sb(III) e Avrami para Se(IV), sendo ambos ajustados para a isoterma de Langmuir. O procedimento foi aplicado em matriz sintética de água do mar, obtendo remoção de 66% de Sb(III) e 60% de Se(IV), demonstrando ser uma alternativa acessível, promissora e ecologicamente correta para remediação de águas naturais contaminadas com Sb e Se presentes a níveis traço.
