Abstract


A Lippia alba, conhecida como erva cidreira, é uma planta utilizada pela população brasileira para o tratamento de inúmeras doenças, como gripe, enxaqueca, hipertensão e problemas relacionados ao sistema reprodutor feminino. Diante do seu potencial terapêutico descrito pela medicina tradicional, muitos estudos foram realizados na última década, a fim de investigar melhor suas atividades biológicas e seus metabólitos secundários. Assim, a Lippia alba demonstrou ação antimicrobiana, antioxidante, analgésica, anti-inflamatória, antineoplásica, antigenotóxica, antiparasitária e neuroativo. Todos os resultados expostos nesta revisão corroboram para que esta espécie seja considerada uma planta passível de utilização como base para fitoterápicos que possam ser utilizados pelo SUS.
