Abstract

No âmbito de práticas de saúde, percebe-se uma frequente associação entre as possíveis influências de fatores religiosos e espirituais no tratamento de enfermidades. Nessa perspectiva, essa interação de religião/espiritualidade e tratamento tem sido alvo de diversos estudos, tanto da área da saúde como de ciências sociais, sobretudo nos últimos anos, visto que a tolerância religiosa/cultural se difundiu mais pelo mundo. Com isso, tornou-se conhecido uma expressão chamada: enfrentamento religioso, que significa um conjunto de estratégias, cognitivas e comportamentais, utilizadas com o objetivo de enfrentar situações de estresse. Sendo assim, o objetivo deste artigo é relacionar os efeitos da religião/espiritualidade no tratamento de doenças. Para sua elaboração foram usados os Descritores Ciências da Saúde (DeSC): “Faith Healing”, “Religion and Medicine” e “Religion and Science” e a partir de 23 artigos base encontrados no banco de dados Public Medlines (PUBMED), publicados entre 2017 e 2020, em língua inglesa e portuguesa. Assim, concluiu-se que fatores culturais religiosos, tais como, a própria religião, orações, amuletos e objetivos que representem espiritualidade para o paciente e sua família influenciam positivamente no tratamento de doenças. Dessa forma, nos coube associar a influência dessa interação de religião/espiritualidade e tratamento tanto nos pacientes quanto da equipe de saúde, para demonstrar a melhor forma de ambos lidarem com esse facilitador no tratamento de enfermidades.
