Abstract

As demências configuram um problema de saúde pública de grande vulto, não só pelo grande contingente de pessoas afetadas, mas também pelo custo envolvido na assistência a esses pacientes. Os estudos apontam que distúrbios de caráter emocional como ansiedade e depressão estão direta e proporcionalmente relacionados ao comprometimento cognitivo, contribuindo significativamente para o surgimento de potenciais quadros demenciais e sua pior evolução. Este é um estudo quantitativo, observacional e transversal, no qual foram incluídos pacientes com idade igual ou maior de 50 anos, de ambos os sexos e que apresentam quadro prévio de ansiedade e/ou depressão diagnosticado. Foram excluídos desse estudo pacientes que já tinham o diagnóstico de demência e pacientes que possuíam comorbidades associadas ou faziam uso outros medicamentos de uso contínuo. Com base nos resultados apresentados foi possível identificar que 50% dos pacientes portadores de ansiedade e/ou depressão em tratamento obtiveram rastreamento positivo para algum grau de comprometimento cognitivo.

Desses, 16,67 % apresentaram demência e 33,33% CCL. Conclui-se que existe uma alta frequência da percepção subjetiva de declínio cognitivo, além de uma alta correlação com alterações cognitivas comprováveis pelo teste neuropsicológico. Assim, é ratificado que distúrbios afetivos estão relacionados à pior avaliação do paciente e, dessa forma, são relevantes preditores do desenvolvimento de quadros de demência.
