Abstract


Introdução: A transmissão da nova doença de coronavírus - COVID-19 (Sars-CoV-2) foi identificada pela primeira vez na cidade de Wuhan em dezembro de 2019 e se espalhou amplamente para mais de 210 países / territórios / áreas. Esta doença causa problemas respiratórios, como a Síndrome do Desconforto Respiratório Agudo (SARS), que leva à insuficiência respiratória e mais de 1% das pessoas infectadas morrem. Objetivos: Descrever as características epidemiológicas dos casos e mortes por COVID-19 no mundo, de 21 de janeiro a 15 de junho de 2020. Material e métodos: 147 relatórios diários de COVID-19 da Organização Mundial de Saúde (OMS) de 21 de janeiro até 15 de junho de 2020. Foram selecionados números de casos confirmados, óbitos e países. Resultados: O continente americano tem o maior número de casos de COVID-19. EUA e Brasil são possíveis epicentros do novo coronavírus, com o maior número de casos e óbitos no mundo. Considerações finais: É necessário manter medidas de higiene e isolamento social em todo o mundo, com o objetivo de reduzir as transmissões e, assim, evitar o colapso dos sistemas de saúde.
