Abstract

A ansiedade e a depressão são dois componentes psico-emocionais comuns no estudo da saúde em geral e em particular da psicologia da saúde.

Sendo os acufenos uma queixa com etiologia muito variada, além de alterações associadas à área auditiva, encontram-se perturbações associadas às áreas cognitiva e emocional. Dos indivíduos que procuram apoio devido à presença de acufenos, 75% apresentam um quadro de alterações da ansiedade e/ou da depressão, dos quais só 7% já sentiam os acufenos antes de desenvolverem essas alterações psico-emocionais.

Os objectivos do estudo são sistematizar a literatura referente à ansiedade e depressão nos acufenos, verificar a sintomatologia ansiosa e depressiva em indivíduos com acufenos, e investigar a sua relação com variáveis sócio-demográficas e clínicas.

Foram avaliados 56 indivíduos através do uso da HADS, tendo-se verificado que 51,7% dos elementos da amostra apresentava sintomatologia ansiosa verificando-se percentagem igual para os que apresentavam quadro depressivo. As mulheres apresentam valores mais elevados em ambas as variáveis, logo maior ansiedade e depressão. Os indivíduos com menos escolaridade apresentam igualmente valores mais elevados em ambas as variáveis psico-emocionais estudadas.

Os resultados obtidos são importantes para a estruturação da intervenção terapêutica nestes indivíduos, e permitem apoiar o uso da HADS como instrumento de rastreio de comorbilidades, neste caso ansiedade e depressão em indivíduos com queixas de acufenos.
