Avaliação da dimetilarginina simétrica (SDMA) como marcador de filtração glomerular em cães e gatos pré-azotêmicos / Symmetric dimethylarginine (SDMA) evaluation as a marker of glomerular filtration in dogs and cats pre azotemics

Resumo

A doença renal crônica (DRC) é a forma mais comumente reconhecida de doença renal em pequenos animais. Ela está relacionada com a perda progressiva e irreversível do tecido renal, tendo etiologia multifatorial. As ferramentas usuais para o seu diagnóstico incluem urinálise, razão proteína: creatinina urinária, bioquímica sérica e ultrassonografia. Recentemente, novos biomarcadores para o diagnóstico precoce vêm sendo estudados, como é o caso da dimetilarginina simétrica (SDMA). O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar a SDMA como marcador de filtração glomerular em cães e gatos com níveis de creatinina limítrofes. Foram selecionados 18 animais para participarem do presente estudo, com idade entre 8 - 15 anos. Os valores obtidos de SDMA e creatinina séricas foram correlacionados (p = 0,0382), indicando que à medida que os valores de creatinina sérica aumentam, os de SDMA sérica também aumentam. Porém, os valores de SDMA sérica entre os animais com creatinina acima do limite superior e animais com creatinina dentro da normalidade não diferiram significativamente (p = 0,5394), indicando que os valores séricos de SDMA não apresentaram um aumento perceptível antes do aumento da creatinina sérica. Esses resultados ressaltam a importância de uma avaliação completa da função renal com múltiplas fontes, além da necessidade de mais estudos que testem a eficácia da SDMA e suas possíveis influências extra-renais.
