Concentrações Plasmáticas de Testosterona em Caprinos Saanen Machos do Nascimento aos 12 Meses de Idade / Plasma Testosterone Concentrations in Male Saanen Goats from Birth to 12 Months Old

Resumo


Quarenta caprinos Saanen machos foram avaliados, do nascimento aos 12 meses de idade, quanto às concentrações plasmáticas de testosterona e à interação da testosterona com outros sinais de maturação sexual. As concentrações médias mais altas de testosterona ocorreram no outono e coincidiram com o período de maior libido dos animais. Elevadas concentrações de testosterona estiveram associadas aos picos de proliferação das células de Leydig, onde o primeiro coincidiu com o descolamento do prepúcio e estabelecimento da puberdade, entre três e quatro meses, e o segundo ocorreu imediatamente antes da maturidade sexual, que se estabeleceu aos sete meses.
